A six week course for individuals or churches that gives participants a practical framework for evangelism in their local context so they know when, where and how to share their faith. 

A sixteen session course and community for individuals, teams or churches in the 18-30 age group with the aim of growing indigenous evangelism practices through coaching that builds knowledge in and grows confidence for evangelism that is contextual both for the individual or a group.

1. What is Evangelism?    Breaking down some of the myths around evangelism and helping participants start to reclaim the word.

2. What is your story?    How has God been part of your life and how can you put words on that?

3. Where can you share your story?   Where are you already present that you can share your faith with those around you?

4. Why Jesus?   What is particular about Jesus, who we believe He is, and why should that make a difference to others?

5. How does your church invite people to be part of its story?   Thinking through how open your church is to those not already part of it.

6. Ideas for outreach.    Approaching practical ideas for outreach to your church’s local community.

Sessions covered.

1.   Faithing the future. Understanding key primers in society today so to be best placed to contextualise the Good news.

2.   The Promise.  How to thrive in a worldview that is not Christian in a way where our faith based actions and words adds value.

3.   The Criticism.   Sometimes being salt and light is not welcome. How do we be creative and respond positively when a context or person is negative.

4.   What is Evangelism.   We think through an evangelism process and examine the steps that get us into evangelism as a way of life.

5.   Going.   Based on Acts 16 we help identify the who where and when of going as what to do when they have a different view of the world to us.

6.   Neighbours.   Dealing with the neighbours. Evangelism when it needs to be slow, sensitive and a blessing.

7.   The Imprint of Mission.  The tipping point of mission happens when the new to faith become sent ones. Discipling in and for the mission context.

8.   Powering up.  What if the prayers we pray in church are not the prayers we pray in a mission setting? Creating a missional prayer culture.

9.   Sonder.   Participants reflect together on their evangelism and missional living since beginning Xplore or Reunion.

10. Telling the story like Jesus.   What are the dynamics in sharing stories naturally that cause a rethink in the hearer even if privately. 

11. Explaining the story like Paul.   Dynamics to explain faith concepts when the hearer has little or no faith language or framework for understanding. 

12. Sharing the story like me.   Authentic evangelism sounds like, looks like and feels like you and also the Holy Spirit. How to be yourself.

13. Presence.   Becoming awareness of your unique partnership with the Holy Spirit in mission and the practice of intimacy with God in our going.

14. We have a helper.   Using Acts 2 as a template to develop steps for how we practically partner with the Holy Spirit in the chaos of mission.

15. Discipling in the mission setting.   Establishing discipleship for new Christians in the context they live  out life and where they came to faith. 

16. Review.   We self review and peer review both this resource and growth in the participant and community. 

00. Evangelism weekend. Retreat weekend.   Optional weekends. One is centred on doing evangelism together and one on being community.

00. Church Army Evangelists.   During break weeks we introduce Church Army work through interviews with six evangelists on those weeks.

1.   Building relationships.   Exploring the place of food, hospitality, welcome, and community in evangelism.

2.   Sowing Seeds.   Developing an understanding of evangelism as a process that is mysterious and organic, and an awareness that it is God’s work             and ours.

3.   Listening to Context.   Understanding how to read context and apply key ideas to a specific mission context.

4.   Being Church.   Develop an understanding of what it means to be Church, to love Church, and ‘Do’ Church well.

5.   Reflecting Well.   Explore ideas of theological reflection and how we use them to become reflective practitioners.

6.   Mission Planning.   As a group planning a weekend mission event.

7.   Enabling Others.   To recognise the importance of enabling others to do evangelism by taking risks, giving opportunities, and leading wisely.

8.   Learning through failure.   To understand the place of failure

9.   Earthing theory in practice.   Undertaking of the mission event planned earlier in the course.

10. Tackling big questions.   Explore the possible responses to challenging questions around apologetics, and their application to a specific mission

       context.
